Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Logistics Planner to join a leading logistics and warehousing group. You will design inbound and outbound routes, optimize cost and delivery times, and manage carrier relationships from anywhere in South Africa.

This role requires at least five years in logistics planning, proficiency with WMS/TMS and Excel, strong analytics, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, SCM, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in logistics planning or transportation management.
• Proven ability to develop and implement effective logistics plans.
• Strong understanding of routing, carrier management, and transport modes.
• Proficient with WMS, TMS, Excel, and MS Office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing the movement of goods across the supply chain. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute optimal logistics plans for inbound and outbound shipments, considering cost, time, and efficiency.
• Analyze transportation data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for route optimization and cost reduction.
• Collaborate with internal teams (operations, procurement, sales) and external partners (carriers, suppliers) to ensure seamless execution of logistics plans.
• Manage carrier relationships, negotiate rates, and monitor carrier performance against service level agreements (SLAs).
• Utilize logistics software and tools to track shipments, manage inventory movements, and forecast capacity needs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
• Proactively identify and resolve potential logistical issues before they impact operations.
• Prepare reports on logistics performance, costs, and efficiency metrics for management review.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics planning function.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date logistics documentation and databases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics planning, transportation management, or supply chain operations.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing effective logistics plans.
• Strong understanding of transportation modes, routing, and carrier management.
• Proficiency in logistics software, WMS, TMS, and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, vital for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
