Job summary

EdUpStairs in Cape Town is seeking an Investment Analyst to join a founder-led, international investment firm expanding its Cape Town office. This is a first step into investing, with two to three years of on-the-job training toward a full investing role.

You will work closely with the founder, learn to analyse markets, build financial models, and prepare investment notes. The role is hybrid, with 2–3 days in the office and some travel.

Qualifications

• CA(SA) or actuary qualification post articles (or final year).
• Strong academic record and first-time pass in exams.
• Evidence of leadership and high achievement outside the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Find and track companies, follow funding rounds and flag opportunities.
• Speak to founders and write first-pass assessments of the business.
• Analyse financials, build models and write investment notes.
• Maintain pipeline and prepare briefing notes for meetings.
• Use data and AI tools to improve research quality.
