Truworths is seeking a Trainee Fashion Designer based at the Head Office in Cape Town. You will research international and local trends, assist Buyers with ranges, and design product areas while collaborating with design teams to bring on-trend looks to market.

Ideal candidates have a fashion design qualification, knowledge of fabrics, and basic graphic design skills. This internship offers hands-on experience across trend forecasting and product development within a leading SA fashion retailer.

Qualifications

• Fashion design qualification or related field.
• Knowledge of fabric and garment construction.
• Graphic design knowledge (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Research international and local product trends, adapting them for the SA market.
• Assist Buyers in building ranges with new fabrics, colours, and key looks.
• Design specific product areas while contributing to ad hoc team projects.
• Attend international trade fairs and fashion capitals (where possible) to gather trend insights.
