Job summary

University of Fort Hare is seeking a Head of Finance: Trading to lead the financial function of a national trading group. The role requires oversight of IFRS, risk management, and corporate governance within commodity trading operations.

The incumbent will drive financial strategy, reporting accuracy, and profitability analyses for management, EXCO, and the board, ensuring robust controls and strategic input across finance and treasury activities.

Qualifications

• Qualified CA(SA) or CIMA (CGMA) with a minimum of 10 years in financial management.
• Extensive experience in agricultural commodity trading, commodity risk management, treasury/trade finance, inventory and hedging management, and group finance and consolidations.
• Experience with IFRS and strong internal control/risk management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the financial function of the trading business.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and reliable month-end and annual reporting.
• Review and consolidate financial results of all relevant entities.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, group policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement best practices for financial control.
• Analyze margins, trends, and trading results; provide strategic recommendations.
