Job summary

SGS is the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, seeking a Manager for Trade Non-Energy to plan, lead and control operations across major South African ports and inland sites.

You will oversee sampling, weight control, visual inspection, and bulk cargo supervision, ensuring compliance with budgets, quality systems, and client requirements. This role demands strong leadership and adherence to ISO standards.

Qualifications

• National Diploma/Degree in Quality Management and/or Chemical Engineering.
• 5 years proven experience in the sector or within SGS with related functions.
• Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write) and strong communication skills.
• Computer literacy in Word and Excel.
• ISO 17025 knowledge and implementation experience.
• Ability to plan, organise, problem solve and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, lead and control business operations at major South African ports and inland locations.
• Manage and monitor operational performance and ensure revenue/expense control.
• Set annual budget targets with the Business Manager and align pricing policies.
• Ensure manpower, equipment and tools meet operational needs for efficiency.
• Drive ISO 9001 and ISO 17020 quality systems implementation and accreditation maintenance.
• Provide liaison and technical support to clients and handle complaints and claims.
• Attend meetings with management, clients and support staff and monitor SLAs and client satisfaction.
