Job summary

Unknown Belgium-based manufacturer is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join its precision toolroom. The role focuses on maintaining and manufacturing precision injection molds, reading complex drawings, and working to tight tolerances in a modern toolroom environment.

You will repair, modify, and optimize tooling to keep production running efficiently, collaborating with engineering and production teams while upholding high-quality workmanship and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have toolmaking experience or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with mold maintenance, mold manufacturing, or precision machining.
• Strong knowledge of milling, turning, grinding, polishing and precision machining processes.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD designs.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment and working to tight tolerances.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service, and repair precision injection molds.
• Manufacture and rework mold components using conventional and CNC machining equipment.
• Perform milling, turning, grinding, polishing, and precision fitting.
• Diagnose mold wear, damage, and performance issues.
• Implement tooling improvements and engineering modifications.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and engineering specifications.
• Work to tight tolerances using precision measuring equipment.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized toolroom.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tooling performance.

About the Role

As a Toolmaker , you'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of precision injection molds that support high-volume manufacturing.

Working within a modern toolroom, you'll use your machining expertise to repair, modify, optimise, and manufacture tooling that keeps production running efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

What You'll Be Doing

• Maintaining, servicing, and repairing precision injection molds
• Manufacturing and reworking mold components using conventional and CNC machining equipment
• Performing milling, turning, grinding, polishing, and precision fitting
• Diagnosing mold wear, damage, and performance issues
• Implementing tooling improvements and engineering modifications
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, CAD models, and engineering specifications
• Working to tight tolerances using precision measuring equipment
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised toolroom environment
• Collaborating with engineering and production teams to improve tooling performance and manufacturing efficiency

We're Looking For

• A qualification in Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering, Precision Mechanics , or equivalent practical experience
• Proven experience in toolmaking, mold maintenance, mold manufacturing, or precision machining
• Strong knowledge of milling, turning, grinding, polishing, and precision machining processes
• The ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD designs
• Experience working to tight tolerances using precision measuring equipment
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative engineering team

Advantageous Experience

• EDM (Wire EDM or Sinker EDM)
• CNC machining
• Injection mold design modifications
• High-volume manufacturing environments

Candidate Requirements

• South African citizen
• Willing and able to relocate to Belgium
• Good Afrikaans proficiency is essential
• Valid passport (or willing to obtain one)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship
