Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Cybersecurity Analyst specializing in threat detection to join our Mossel Bay-based team. You will monitor security systems, analyze alerts, and respond to incidents to safeguard our infrastructure and data in a hybrid work setup.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 2–5 years in cybersecurity operations, and hands-on experience with SIEM tools (Splunk/ELK Stack). Certifications such as Security+ or CySA+ are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in cybersecurity operations, threat analysis, or incident response.
• Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK Stack) and network analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of common attack vectors, malware, and intrusion techniques.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus.
• Relevant certifications like Security+ or CySA+ are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR) for indicators of compromise and malicious activity.
• Analyze security alerts, logs, and threat intelligence to identify and prioritize potential security incidents.
• Conduct in-depth investigations into security breaches and malware incidents.
• Develop and refine detection rules and signatures to enhance threat identification capabilities.
• Collaborate with incident response teams to contain and eradicate threats.
• Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies.
