About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Telecommunications Equipment Installer to join their team, primarily serving the Paarl, Western Cape area. This role is critical for the deployment and setup of telecommunications hardware, including networking equipment, cabling, and associated infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in telecommunications systems, precision in installation, and a commitment to quality workmanship. You will be responsible for installing equipment at various client sites, ensuring all connections are secure, systems are configured correctly, and operational standards are met. This position demands a hands-on approach, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively on-site in dynamic environments. You will be representing our client as a reliable installer in the Paarl region.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, servers, and antennas.
• Run and terminate network cabling (e.g., Ethernet, fiber optic) according to industry standards.
• Mounting and connecting various telecommunications hardware, ensuring proper fit and security.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and installation guides.
• Perform diagnostic tests to ensure the correct functioning of installed equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues promptly.
• Maintain a clean and organized work site, adhering to all safety regulations.
• Manage tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Provide basic handover documentation or site reports as required.
• Communicate effectively with project supervisors and site contacts regarding installation progress.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Equipment Installer, Network Cabling Technician, or similar role.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, networking principles, and cabling standards.
• Proficiency in installing and terminating various types of network cables.
• Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and installation plans.
• Experience with common telecommunications hardware and tools.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks on-site effectively.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Western Cape , particularly around Paarl .
• Good physical condition, able to work in various environments and potentially lift equipment.
