Placements24 is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Equipment Installer to deploy and maintain network infrastructure across client sites in Bloemfontein and surrounding areas. The role requires hands-on installation, configuration, and testing of routers, switches, servers, and cabling.

You will read diagrams, ensure safety standards, document layouts, and collaborate with project teams. A proactive, self-motivated contractor with a valid driver's license and willingness to travel is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, such as routers, switches, servers, and other network hardware.
• Perform structured cabling, including running and terminating network cables (Ethernet, fiber optic).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot installation and connectivity issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Read and interpret network diagrams, blueprints, and installation guides.
• Ensure all installations comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of installed equipment, configurations, and cabling layouts.
• Conduct site surveys to plan and prepare for equipment installations.
• Work collaboratively with project managers and other technical staff to ensure project milestones are met.
• Provide basic end-user support post-installation as needed.
• Manage inventory of installation materials and equipment.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the installation, configuration, and testing of telecommunications hardware, including networking equipment, servers, and cabling. • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and site plans.
• Experience with common networking tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and a systematic approach to problem resolution.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must be self-motivated and able to manage tasks efficiently in a remote setting.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region as required.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent are a plus.
