Placements24 is seeking a Telecom Installation Technician to join our field team in Upington, Northern Cape. You will install, test, and maintain fiber optic and wireless telecom infrastructure, including site surveys, equipment configuration, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable network services.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with OTDR, fusion splicers, and cable testers, plus a valid driver’s license and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Telecom Installation Technician or in a related field (e.g., Cable Technician, Network Installer).
• Strong understanding of telecommunications principles, including fiber optics, wireless technologies, and networking.
• Proficiency in using installation and testing tools (e.g., OTDR, fusion splicer, cable testers).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and site plans.
• Experience with mounting and cabling various types of telecommunications hardware.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, including working at heights and electrical safety.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., FOA, CompTIA Network+) are a strong advantage.
