Job summary

Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, is seeking a hands-on Telecommunications Technician to join our operations team on-site. You will install, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment, troubleshoot faults, and restore service quickly for customers in the region.

The ideal candidate holds a qualification in electronics or telecommunications, with experience in DSL, fiber optics, and wireless tech, plus proficiency with diagnostic tools and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Electronics/telecommunications qualification or certification required.
Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or similar role expected.
Knowledge of DSL, fiber optics and wireless technologies required.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment expected.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Valid driver's license and willingness to on-site service in Upington.

Responsibilities

Install, test, and commission telecommunications equipment including modems, routers, and cabling.
Perform routine maintenance checks and preventative servicing on network infrastructure.
Diagnose and resolve technical faults and service issues reported by customers.
Respond to emergency call-outs to restore service quickly.
Ensure all work is completed safely and adheres to industry standards and company procedures.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment status.
