Placements24 is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join their team in Cape Town, focusing on installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication equipment across client sites. You will be the primary contact, diagnose issues, and ensure seamless operation of telecom systems.

The role requires hands-on work, ability to work autonomously in diverse environments, and strong communication with customers.

Qualifications

• A relevant technical qualification or certification in electronics, telecommunications, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar technical support role within the telecoms industry.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including fibre optics, copper cabling, and wireless technologies.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, test equipment, and hand tools for installations and repairs.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Valid driver's licence and a clean driving record are essential for travel.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission telecommunication systems, including fibre optics, mobile base stations, and fixed-line infrastructure.
• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on client equipment to prevent service disruptions.
• Respond promptly to service calls and resolve technical issues efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
• Conduct site surveys and provide technical recommendations for optimal equipment placement and performance.
• Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and inventory using company software.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while on client premises in Cape Town and surrounding areas.
