Job summary

SciTech seeks an AR Grade Chemical Sales Representative in Midrand to drive sales of AR-grade chemicals, laboratory reagents, consumables, standards and related products to mining and laboratory markets across South Africa. This permanent role reports to the Sales Manager / Business Development Manager.

Travel to customer sites is extensive; a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required. Candidates should have 3–5 years external sales experience and a chemistry-related degree;

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Chemistry or related field (preferred).
• 3-5 years external sales experience.
• Minimum 2 years selling laboratory, scientific, or industrial chemical products.

Responsibilities

• Develop new business and grow existing customer accounts.
• Sell laboratory chemicals, reagents, standards, and consumables.
• Build relationships with laboratory managers, chemists, and procurement teams.
• Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, and close sales.

AR Grade Chemical Sales Representative (Mining & Laboratory Markets)

We are looking for AR Grade Chemical Sales Reps, Midrand

Reports To: Sales Manager / Business Development Manager

Salary: R22 000 - R27 000 per month

Job Purpose

Drive sales of AR-grade chemicals, laboratory reagents, consumables, standards, and related products to mining, commercial, research, environmental, water testing, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, and industrial laboratories across South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new business and grow existing customer accounts.


• Sell laboratory chemicals, reagents, standards, and consumables.


• Build relationships with laboratory managers, chemists, and procurement teams.


• Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, and close sales.


• Provide technical product support and presentations.


• Conduct customer visits and identify upselling opportunities.


• Monitor market trends, competitors, and new industry opportunities.


• Maintain CRM records, sales reports, forecasts, and compliance standards.

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, or related field (preferred).


• 3-5 years external sales experience.


• Minimum 2 years selling laboratory, scientific, or industrial chemical products.


• Mining laboratory sales experience advantageous.

Technical Knowledge

• AR-grade chemicals and laboratory reagents.


• ICP, AAS, XRF, and wet chemistry applications.


• ISO 17025 and laboratory quality systems.


• Laboratory safety and sample preparation chemicals.


• Prospecting, negotiation, closing, and account management.


• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.


• Self-motivated, organised, results-driven, and able to work independently.

Travel Requirements

• Extensive travel to customer sites across South Africa.


• Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle.

Target Markets

• Mining laboratories (gold, platinum, coal, iron ore, base metals).


• Universities, research institutions, environmental, water, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and manufacturing laboratories.

Preferred Industry Background

Experience with companies such as Merck/Sigma-Aldrich, ACE, Lasec, Labotec, Separations, Protea Laboratory Services, Chemetrix, Industrial Analytical, Scientific Group, Kimix Chemicals, or similar chemical/laboratory suppliers.
