Job description

MOO is all about making great design available to everyone. We do that by producing premium print and branded merchandise. But it’s as much about how we do it, leading with design, technology and sustainability.

Founded in 2004, we’ve come this far by being obsessed with the happiness of our customers. Along the way, we’ve built an award-winning and much-loved brand, with exceptional customer satisfaction and Trustpilot ratings. Those customers are typically small and medium-sized businesses based in North America, the UK, and Europe – businesses that, like us, value design and see the brand-building power of putting something real in people’s hands.

We’ve received the highest business award in Britain, ‘The Queen’s Award for Enterprise’. Part of Tech Nation’s ‘Future Fifty’, we’ve been profiled in the Financial Times, and ranked in the Guardian’s top 10 UK start-ups.

Today we are over 350 people, headquartered in the UK but with many of our people based in the USA and South Africa.

At MOO, we don’t just print business cards; we help people make their mark on the world. We believe great design is for everyone, and our goal is to help customers achieve that.

Because our customers upload a wide variety of file types, we are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Technical Production Artworker to join our fast-growing Customer Service team. This is an entry-level 6 month contract role in our Cape Town hub for a production-minded artist who enjoys the "detective work" of fixing files. You will be the final line of defense, ensuring that low-resolution or incorrectly formatted files are corrected to meet our premium print standards before they hit the press.

The hours will be Monday- Friday Training is 10am - 6:30pm SAST Normal hours once training is over 3pm - 12:30am SAST

The Person We Want

  • Confident Decision-Maker: You can make firm decisions based on established guidelines without second-guessing yourself
  • Highly Organized: You can seamlessly manage and navigate multiple software applications for a single customer
  • Helpful & Positive: You bring a proactive, "can-do" attitude and a genuine dedication to helping others
  • Strong knowledge in Adobe Creative suite & Photoshop is a must
Responsibilities
  • High-Volume File Correction: Execute core print production by preparing print-ready files, setting bleeds, crops and correct color profiles
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Gathers and analyzes job information to identify and fix common production problems like low-resolution images, missing fonts, or incorrect file setups
  • Quality Control & Editing: Review items flagged for manual quality control—specifically for paper and branded merchandise—performing text edits and layout revisions to meet MOO standards
  • Efficiency under Pressure: Manage a high-volume personal workload, ensuring daily tasks and milestones are met under tight deadlines
  • Customer Communication: Clearly explain technical file issues to customers via email, chat, and phone, providing solutions to ensure their vision is captured perfectly
About You
  • Problem Solver: You can independently resolve standard file errors or escalate complex issues for guidance when necessary
  • A "Technical Artistry" Mindset: You have a sharp visual eye and can spot a typo, a low-res pixel, or a misaligned image from a mile away
  • Collaborative Spirit: You enjoy participating in team standups and 1:1s to help the team keep up with high customer demand
  • Adobe Expert: You are highly comfortable with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and can quickly learn our CRM (Zendesk) and internal backend systems
Nice To Haves
  • Previous work in an ecomm, quality control production enviornment or DTP (desktop publishing)
