Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. is seeking a Technical Publications Specialist to create and maintain structured documentation for mining equipment. You will work with Engineering, Services and Marketing to develop service manuals, parts manuals, and training content while ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a tertiary Engineering qualification and 3–5 years in an engineering environment. Proficiency in XML, DITA, content management systems, and SAP ECM is essential, along with

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of XML, DITA and content management systems.
• Proficiency with standard office productivity applications.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze information to create operating, troubleshooting, and maintenance instructions for Komatsu equipment.
• Advance the development of how-to guides and analyze industry trends.
• Familiarize with global/regional regulations and standards for technical writing.
• Create documentation for service manuals, parts manuals and OEM documentation.
• Develop training content and internal/external technical documentation.
• Collaborate with SMEs and engineering resources to gather technical input.
• Maintain an archive for all generated and validated documentation.
• Coordinate production schedules for technical publications with PM, Marketing, Engineering and Services.
• Manage requests for technical documentation and ECM changes in SAP.
• Validate all technical documentation and manage department purchase requisitions.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Identify and analyse the information needed to produce, step-by-step instructions for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining Komatsu equipment and narrative descriptions of the design and functions of Komatsu equipment,
• Initiate and drive technological developments and innovation in the “How to guide” space and analyse industry trends;
• Gain awareness of and familiarity with Global and Regional regulations, standards, and industry guidelines relating to technical writing;
• Assist with creating documentation for technical service manuals and parts manuals for machine-specific OEM, rebuild and aftermarket technical documentation;
• Assist in creating training content & documentation for sales & services aswell internal documentation;
• Research, collect and analyse information from subject matter experts and other Engineering resources (including databases, technical drawings/models, spreadsheets, and written references);
• Develop and maintain an archive for all generated and validated documentation;
• Interface with Project Management, Marketing, Engineering, Services and Manufacturing to produce, and coordinate the production schedule for Technical Publications;
• Generate, distribute andmanage all documentation requests;
• Initiate Engineering change management (ECM) for all technical documentation requests using the SAP platform;
• Manage the validation of all technical documentation; and
• Manage and create the department purchase requisitions.
• A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field;
• A minimum of three to five years’ experience in an engineering environment;
• Experience in the mining industry would be advantageous;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
• Experience in technical writing or copywriting would be advantageous;
• Practical experience using XML, DITA, and content management systems to create and maintain structured technical documentation;
• Proficiency in standard office productivity applications and digital document-management tools; and
• A valid driver’s license and access to reliable personal transport;
