Job summary

Herotel in De Aar is seeking a hands-on Technical Assistant to support fibre optic and wireless installations. You will assist Senior Technicians with site surveys, cable routing, mounting brackets, and CPE recovery, while upholding safety and workmanship standards.

Ideal candidates have Matric, basic computer literacy, and a willingness to work overtime. The role offers a pathway through our networks team with exposure to various installations across different environments.

Qualifications

Matric (Grade 12) is required.
Basic computer literacy is required.
Good working knowledge of hand and power tools used in installations.
A valid driver’s license is advantageous.
Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

Assist with site surveys, including signal scans and tests, and capture photos for equipment placement.
Support installations by mounting brackets, cable hooks, and running cables under supervision.
Perform CPE recovery and tidy work sites after installations or repairs.
Participate in callout repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
Ensure tools, equipment and consumables are organised and stocked for daily operations.
Maintain cleanliness and order at job sites during and after work.
Follow instructions and prioritise tasks from the Install team.
Adhere to Health and Safety procedures and maintain high safety standards.
Work independently and as part of a team in all conditions, heights and confined spaces.
Demonstrate pride in work ethic, company property and installation quality.
