Job summary

Herotel in Harrismith, Free State invites applications for a hands-on Technical Assistant to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fibre optic and wireless systems. The role assists Senior Technicians to deliver high-quality network work with safety and efficiency in mind.

You will gain practical skills through our internal academy, work in a dynamic team, and contribute to reliable network services.

Qualifications

Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
Basic computer literacy.
Experience with hand and power tools is preferred.
Valid driver's license is advantageous.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physically fit to work in various environments, heights and confined spaces.
Strong organizational skills and time management.
Willingness to work overtime.

Responsibilities

Assist with site surveys, including signal scans and photos for equipment placement.
Support installations by mounting brackets and cabling under supervision of Senior Technicians.
Perform CPE recovery and tidy work sites.
Participate in callout repairs and routine maintenance tasks.
Ensure tools, equipment and consumables are organized in vehicles for daily operations.
Maintain cleanliness and order at job sites and after installations or repairs.
Follow Install team instructions and prioritise tasks accordingly.
Adhere to Health and Safety procedures and maintain high safety standards.
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team in varied conditions.
Demonstrate pride in workmanship and company property.
