Job summary

Joint Medical Holdings is seeking a Maintenance Technician to provide technical, maintenance, and administrative support for hospital infrastructure. You will conduct routine inspections, assist with preventive and reactive maintenance, monitor generators, HVAC, pumps, water systems, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across theatres, ICU, wards, and emergency units.

JOB DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide technical, maintenance, and administrative support by ensuring that equipment, systems, and assets are effectively maintained, monitored, and managed to support efficient departmental operations and service delivery.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Conduct routine inspections of plant rooms and hospital technical infrastructure.
• Assist with preventative and reactive maintenance, including breakdown response.
• Monitor and support generators, UPS systems, HVAC, pumps, water systems, medical gases, lifts, and related equipment.
• Perform basic fault finding and elevate complex technical issues where required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, and service reports.
• Assist with asset management, inventory control, and equipment tracking.
• Coordinate and monitor contractors working on site.
• Follow up on outstanding maintenance work and verify completed repairs.
• Assist with minor projects, installations, and renovations.
• Provide technical support to theatres, ICU, wards, emergency units, and other critical hospital areas.
• Ensure compliance with hospital health, safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
• N6 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification (essential).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare facilities environment.
  
• Basic knowledge of hospital engineering systems and maintenance practices will be advantageous.
