Job summary

Telkom South Africa is seeking a field technician to repair and maintain its cable network across varied environments. You will interpret instructions, obtain materials, prepare work areas, and secure sites while diagnosing faults and updating records.

The role requires travel, adherence to SHE rules, and willingness to work outside standard hours. Experience in a cable environment and relevant modular training is preferred, with a valid driver’s license and readiness to travel as stated.

Qualifications

• NQF 4: School leaving qualification: National Certificate (Grade 12)/ National Senior Certificate/ National (vocational) Certificate and relevant modular training
• OR (Internal) NQF 3: School/ College/ Trade Certificates e.g. Grade 11 or N3 and relevant modular training
• Relevant experience in a cable environment and/or relevant modular training in the cable environment completed.
• Ex-/ Current Telkom Full Time Bursars, learnerships and internships candidates will be exempted from the 3 years experience requirements but must have a minimum of 12 months relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain Telkom's cable network and circuits to provide a continuous service.
• Interpret instructions, request and obtain materials, prepare and secure work area.
• Diagnose and localise faults, complete tasks and update cable records.
• Perform site surveys and assist in rehabilitation/restoration of networks.
• Ensure compliance with SHE procedures and report findings.
