Unitrade 745 (Pty) Ltd in Durban is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our IT team and support Windows Server, AD, Azure, and Microsoft 365 within a modern hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in systems administration or infrastructure support
• 2+ years supporting Microsoft technologies in an enterprise environment
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure and hybrid-cloud infrastructure
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration
• Exposure to virtualisation (e.g., Hyper-V, AVD) and backup/DR processes
• Experience providing Level 2/3 technical support in a service-desk environment
• Basic PowerShell scripting and ITIL awareness are a plus
• Exposure to other Public Cloud platforms e.g. AWS, Huawei advantageous

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Administration: support on-prem and cloud infrastructure including Windows Server, AD, DNS/DHCP
• Azure & Cloud: deploy and manage Azure VMs, networking, storage, backup, monitoring
• Microsoft 365: admin Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Defender, Intune
• Virtualisation & Applications: support virtualised platforms, patching, upgrades, deployments
• Monitoring & Optimization: monitor estate with MS and other tools; resolve bottlenecks
• Security: monitor logs, apply security policies, assist vulnerability remediation
• Backup & DR: support backup ops, DR testing, reporting
• Support: provide Level 2/3 support, SLA-based incidents, after-hours rotations
• Documentation: maintain SOPs, reports on environment performance
• Compliance: ensure ISO27001 and other requirements

About the Role

We're looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Information Technology team and help keep our Microsoft-based and cloud infrastructure running smoothly. You'll work under the guidance of senior engineers and infrastructure leaders, supporting everything from Windows Server and Active Directory to Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 — gaining hands‑on exposure across a modern hybrid environment while building toward more senior engineering responsibility.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Administration: Support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of on-premises and cloud infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Microsoft Azure & Cloud: Assist with deploying and administering Azure Virtual Machines, networking, storage, backup, and monitoring, plus hybrid identity via Microsoft Entra ID.
• Microsoft 365: Administer Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive for Business, Defender, and Intune — including licensing and user lifecycle management.
• Virtualisation & Applications: Support virtualised platforms, patching, upgrades, and bespoke application/website deployments.
• Monitoring & Optimization: Proactively monitor the estate using a combination of Microsoft and other monitoring tools; resolve performance bottlenecks and recurring faults.
• Security: Monitor the estate logs for threats,apply and maintain security policies and access controls, support vulnerability assessments and remediation, and escalated incidents.
• Backup & DR: Support enterprise backup operations, disaster recovery testing, and reporting.
• Support: Provide Level 2/3 technical support, resolve incidents within SLA, and participate in after-hours/standby rotations.
• Documentation: Maintain SOPs and contribute to reporting on environment performance as well as monthly and ad-hoc reports.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with ISO27001 and other regulatory or customer requirements.
