Job summary

Bontech Consulting, a proudly South African cyber security firm, is seeking a Symantec Endpoint Security Engineer to manage, maintain and optimise Symantec Endpoint Protection environments for our clients.

This hands-on role spans multiple client environments in a hybrid Pretoria setup. You will work closely with SOC analysts and other security engineers to keep SEP/SES policies current, perform health checks, tune configurations, upgrade versions, investigate incidents and document processes.

• Matric/Grade 12 required; tertiary qualification beneficial

We help government, enterprise and growing businesses predict, identify, prevent, detect and respond to cyber threats.As a Symantec Endpoint Security Engineer you will manage, maintain and optimise Symantec Endpoint Protection environments for our clients.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who knows Symantec deeply and wants to work across multiple client environments.You'll work closely with SOC analysts, other security engineers and clients to keep endpoint protection effective and current.

What you'll do

• Administer, monitor and support Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) and Symantec Endpoint Security (SES) environments
• Perform health checks, policy tuning and version upgrades
• Investigate and respond to endpoint security incidents and alerts
• Deploy and configure SEP agents across client environments
• Ensure protection policies align with client risk profiles and compliance requirements
• Document configurations, processes and procedures
• Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams

What you'll bring

• Must have a Matric / Grade 12 Certificate. Tertiary qualification beneficial
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Symantec Endpoint Protection (non-negotiable)
• Symantec certification in Endpoint Protection (non-negotiable)
• Solid understanding of endpoint security, malware detection and incident response
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment

Nice to have

• Additional security certifications (CISSP, Security+, CEH, Microsoft, etc.)
• Experience with other endpoint security platforms (Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne)
• Experience in a consulting or multi-client environment
• Exposure to POPIA and public sector security requirements
