Job summary

Bontech Consulting is seeking a Symantec Web Gateway Engineer to manage, maintain and optimise SWG environments for clients. The role is hands-on, focusing on web security governance, incident response and policy enforcement.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of hands-on Symantec SWG/Web Security experience, a Symantec certification, and the ability to work in a hybrid Pretoria environment. A tertiary qualification is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12; tertiary qualification beneficial
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on Symantec Web Gateway or Symantec Web Security experience
• Symantec certification in relevant web security technology mandatory
• Solid understanding of web security, content filtering and threat protection
• Ability to work independently and in a hybrid environment

Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor and support Symantec Web Gateway environments

• Investigate and respond to web security incidents and blocked content alerts
• Configure gateway components including Symantec Web Security Service and related gateways

About the role

We help government, enterprise and growing businesses predict, identify, prevent, detect and respond to cyber threats.As a Symantec Web Gateway Engineer you will manage, maintain and optimise Symantec web security environments for our clients.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who understands web security deeply and can manage gateway and content filtering solutions across complex client environments.You'll work closely with SOC analysts, other security engineers and clients to control web traffic and enforce security policy.

What you'll do

• Administer, monitor and support Symantec Web Gateway (SWG) environments
• Manage web security policy, content filtering and threat protection
• Investigate and respond to web security incidents and blocked content alerts
• Configure and manage gateway components including Symantec Web Security Service, Edge Secure Web Gateway or Web Protection
• Ensure web security configurations align with client risk profiles and compliance requirements
• Document configurations, processes and procedures
• Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams

What you'll bring

• Must have a Matric / Grade 12 Certificate. Tertiary qualification beneficial
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Symantec Web Gateway or Symantec Web Security (non-negotiable)
• Symantec certification in the relevant web security technology (non-negotiable)
• Solid understanding of web security, content filtering and threat protection
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment

Nice to have

• Additional security certifications (CISSP, Security+, CEH, Microsoft, etc.)
• Experience with secure web gateways from other vendors
• Experience in a consulting or multi-client environment
• Exposure to POPIA and public sector security requirements
