Job summary

Virgin Active South Africa in Pretoria is seeking a dedicated Swim Tenant to deliver high-quality swimming services on-site. You will plan and conduct safe, engaging lessons for different ages and abilities, manage pool bookings for your program, and uphold hygiene and safety standards.

This role requires water-safety knowledge, first aid and CPR, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate with club staff.

Qualifications

• Structured swimming lessons for different ages and abilities.
• First aid and CPR certification is required.

Role Description

The Swim Tenant is a full-time, on-site role based in Pretoria, responsible for delivering high-quality swimming services within Virgin Active facilities. This role includes planning and conducting safe, engaging swim lessons for different age groups and skill levels, while maintaining a professional and welcoming environment. The Swim Tenant manages pool bookings related to their program, ensures adherence to club rules and safety standards, and collaborates with club management to coordinate schedules and member communication. Daily activities include member interaction, progress tracing, basic administration, and ensuring that all equipment and pool areas used for lessons meet hygiene and safety requirements. The role also involves promoting swim programs, supporting member retention, and contributing to a positive club atmosphere aligned with Virgin Active values.

Qualifications

• Relevant swim instruction, coaching, or aquatic teaching qualification, with proven experience conducting structured swimming lessons for various age groups.
• Strong knowledge of water safety, life-saving practices, and poolside risk management; current first aid and CPR certification required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage members, manage groups, and provide clear, supportive feedback.
• Good organizational and time-management abilities to handle scheduling, lesson planning, basic administration, and coordination with club staff.
• Demonstrated customer service mindset, aligned with Virgin Active values of heartfelt service and smart disruption, and a passion for health, fitness, and wellness.
• Ability to work on-site in Pretoria, including flexible hours such as early mornings, evenings, weekends, and peak club times as required.
• Previous experience working in a health club, sports facility, or similar environment is an advantage.
• Current SAPS clearance- If no SAPS clearance has been obtained, in the interim we will accept a clearance from MIE or IFacts but we will still require the receipt from SAPS conforming your request to obtain a clearance.
