Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks an experienced Farm Operations Manager to lead day-to-day agricultural operations in Tembisa. This hands-on role requires a motivated leader who can drive sustainable farming practices, optimize crop and livestock production, and ensure quality and environmental stewardship.

You will manage a diverse workforce, supervise machinery and irrigation systems, and oversee budgets and procurement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in farm management or related agricultural leadership.
• Strong understanding of crop science, soil management, pest control, and agricultural machinery.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of budget management and resource allocation within an agricultural context.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for crop rotation, planting, cultivation, and harvesting to maximize yield and quality.
• Supervise and manage farm staff, including field workers, machinery operators, and supervisors, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
• Oversee the maintenance and efficient operation of all farm machinery, equipment, and irrigation systems.
• Manage inventory of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural supplies, ensuring timely procurement and optimal usage.
• Monitor crop health, pest infestations, and weather conditions, implementing appropriate control measures.
