Job summary

Joint Medical Holdings is seeking a Surgical Stores Assistant to help manage, control and distribute stock in the Surgical Stores Department of the Pharmacy. You will pack stock for wards and theatre, ensure accurate billing and maintain stock levels with expiry checks.

You will also receive stock, post transfers in the HMS system, barcode new stock and assist with stock evaluations. Requirements include Grade 12, computer literacy and 1–2 years in a Pharmacy or Hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 qualification.
• Must be computer literate.
• Knowledge of stock control (Surgical Stock an advantage).
• 1–2 years' experience in a Pharmacy or Hospital environment.
• Basic /Post basic level qualification advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Pack surgical stock for wards and theatre per daily replenishment lists.
• Ensure accurate billing for chits received at Surgical Stores.
• Maintain stock levels, review expiry dates and prepare expiry/short-date lists.
• Transport stock to wards/theatre as required.
• Place orders for surgical stock with suppliers as needed.
• Receive stock and reconcile invoicing according to procedure.
• Receive stock into the HMS system, post transfers and usages.
• Bar code new stock on receipt.
• Handle queries and escalate when required.
• Coordinate new product evaluations at theatre and ward level.
• Relieve theatre stock controller during leave or unavailability.
