Job summary

Ultra Pharmaceutical And Medical Placements seeks a Surgical Instrument Lab Assistant in Cape Town. The role requires a Health Sciences–related degree, a valid driver’s license with own transport, and willingness to travel between Cape Town locations; working days are Tuesday to Saturday.

You will prepare, set up and pack away surgical instruments, manage instrument cleaning and stock control, set up the lab with C-arm equipment, support sales and clinical staff, handle PPE inventory, and ensure

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Health Sciences or related field.
• Valid driver’s license and own transport; willingness to travel between locations in Cape Town.
• Experience in clinical, theatre, laboratory, medical device or healthcare environment is advantageous.
• Comfortable in a cadaver laboratory environment and handling human cadaveric specimens.
• Fluent in English and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and pack away surgical instruments and laboratory equipment.
• Manage instrument cleaning, storage, repairs and replacements.
• Take ownership of stock and PPE management, including stock takes and inventory control.
• Prepare and set up the laboratory, including tables, C-arm equipment and infrastructure.
• Provide on-the-ground clinical and operational support during laboratories, assisting surgeons and staff.
• Coordinate laboratory orders, refreshments, consumables and other requirements.
• Inspect facilities and equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements.
• Ensure laboratory remains organized, professional and compliant.
