About the Role

Our client, a leading force in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supply Chain Operations Manager to oversee their critical logistics and distribution operations in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal . This pivotal role demands a strategic thinker with a proven ability to optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely delivery of products to market. You will be responsible for managing warehousing, inventory, transportation, and supplier relationships to maintain the highest standards of operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic supply chain plans to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
• Oversee daily warehouse operations, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and stock control.
• Manage all transportation activities, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery of goods.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and suppliers.
• Implement and maintain robust supply chain processes and systems, leveraging technology to drive improvements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to address deviations.
• Collaborate with sales, procurement, and manufacturing departments to forecast demand and align supply chain activities accordingly.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.
• A Master's degree or relevant professional certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with a significant focus on the FMCG sector .
• Proven track record in optimizing warehouse and transportation operations.
• Strong understanding of inventory management techniques and WMS systems.
• Demonstrated experience in negotiating with logistics providers and managing supplier relationships.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in supply chain planning software and ERP systems.
• Ability to manage complex projects and drive change initiatives.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution environment.
