Job summary

Properitas Personnel in Pretoria/Tshwane is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to own the end-to-end supply chain for Battery Energy Storage Systems, including batteries, inverters and containerised solutions. You will balance cost, quality, delivery and working capital while ensuring reliable supply of critical components.

The role requires 5–10 years in supply chain, procurement or logistics within manufacturing/engineering, with strong ERP/MRP planning and supplier-management skills.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of supply chain, procurement or logistics experience in manufacturing/engineering.
• Experience sourcing electronic, electrical and mechanical components.
• Strong ERP/MRP planning experience with ERPNext or Syspro.
• Experience in project-based or engineered-product environments, preferably energy or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills with stakeholder and supplier-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with project delivery requirements.
• Manage procurement of electronic, electrical and mechanical components including batteries and BMS.
• Manage suppliers and service providers including container manufacturing, cabling, HVAC and fire suppression.
• Build and maintain local and international supplier relationships.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts and supply agreements.
• Lead demand planning, inventory optimisation and MRP within an ERP environment.
• Monitor supplier performance, lead times, logistics and supply-chain risks.
• Drive cost reduction, efficiency and quality improvements.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management and Production teams.

Our client is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to take ownership of the end-to-end supply chain for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including batteries, inverters and containerised solutions. The role will balance cost, quality, delivery and working capital, while ensuring the reliable supply of critical components.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with project delivery requirements.
• Manage procurement of electronic, electrical and mechanical components, including batteries, BMS, PCBs, wiring, connectors and sheet-metal components.
• Manage suppliers and service providers, including container manufacturing, cabling, HVAC and fire suppression.
• Build and maintain local and international supplier relationships.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts and supply agreements.
• Lead demand planning, inventory optimisation and MRP within an ERP environment.
• Monitor supplier performance, lead times, logistics and supply‑chain risks.
• Drive cost reduction, efficiency and quality improvements.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Management and Production teams.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, B.Com Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• 5–10 years’ experience in supply chain, procurement or logistics within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Proven experience sourcing electronic, electrical and mechanical components.
• Strong ERP and MRP planning experience, ideally ERPNext, Syspro or similar.
• Experience in project‑based or engineered‑product environments, preferably energy, power systems or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong commercial, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Technical understanding across electrical, electronic and mechanical components.
• Strong stakeholder and supplier-management abilities.
• Knowledge of Incoterms, shipping and customs clearance.
