Placements24 is seeking an experienced Supply Chain & Logistics Director for Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This hybrid role requires leading the end-to-end supply chain in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

You will drive strategy across procurement, inventory, warehousing, transportation and distribution, build high-performing teams, and partner with suppliers to optimize costs and service levels. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's (masters preferred), 10+ years' experience, and a proven track record

• Minimum 10 years of progressive supply chain and logistics management, with 5+ years in a director role in FMCG.
• Proven ability to optimize complex supply chains, drive cost savings, and improve efficiency.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent leader in the FMCG sector , is seeking an experienced and strategic Supply Chain & Logistics Director to oversee their extensive operations. This critical role, based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, ZA , requires a dynamic leader to manage and optimize the entire supply chain lifecycle, from procurement and inventory management to warehousing and final delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the timely and reliable supply of products to our diverse customer base. This is a Hybrid position, demanding presence in the Durban office for key strategic meetings and collaborative sessions, while allowing for remote work flexibility during other periods. We are looking for a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of supply chain complexities within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels across the organization. Oversee all aspects of procurement, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and distribution. Lead and mentor the supply chain and logistics teams, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, and other key stakeholders. Implement and manage advanced supply chain planning and execution systems to optimize operations. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the supply chain, such as inventory turnover, on-time delivery rates, and logistics costs, and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards related to safety, quality, and environmental protection. Identify and implement innovative solutions to address supply chain challenges and opportunities for growth. Manage the supply chain budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and maximizing return on investment.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree is highly desirable. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain and logistics management, with at least 5 years in a director-level role within the FMCG industry . Proven track record of successfully optimizing complex supply chains, driving significant cost savings, and improving operational efficiency. In-depth knowledge of supply chain planning, demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and transportation management. Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS). Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder management skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools. Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus. Must be able to commit to a Hybrid work model, including regular office presence in Durban .
