Job summary

Robertson Winery is seeking a dedicated Supervisor: Glass to oversee the Glass and Sleeving Production area in Robertson (Western Cape). The role focuses on efficient line operations, quality compliance, and strong staff leadership to maintain productivity and safety standards.

The successful candidate will lead production teams, conduct pre-production checks, monitor deviations and ensure HACCP compliance while driving continuous improvement and staff development.

Qualifications

• Matric and at least 5 years' experience in productivity or staff management within a manufacturing or bottling environment.
• Experience with bottling line machinery (steriliser, filler, capper, blower, labeller, strapper, sleeving machines).
• Excellent Afrikaans and English communication; MS Office literacy; willingness to work night shift overtime.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise production processes and employees in the Glass and Sleeving area.
• Ensure production lines operate efficiently with minimal downtime.
• Conduct pre-production checks and approve samples before production.
• Maintain quality control standards and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Monitor deviations in the production plan, machinery breakdowns, and quality concerns.
• Lead and motivate the production team; manage staff schedules, absenteeism and disciplinary matters.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, food safety, and hygiene standards (HACCP).
• Maintain clean and organised production areas and equipment.
• Drive self-development and participate in relevant training programs.

The successful candidate will ensure efficient production line operations, adherence to quality standards, and effective staff management. This role requires a strong leader who can maintain productivity, foster teamwork, and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Managing and supervising production processes and employees in the Glass and Sleeving area
• Ensuring production lines operate efficiently with minimal downtime
• Conducting pre-production checks and approving samples before production
• Maintaining quality control standards and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
• Monitoring and reporting deviations in the production plan, machinery breakdowns, and quality concerns
• Leading and motivating the production team
• Managing staff schedules, absenteeism, and first-line disciplinary matters
• Ensuring adherence to health, safety, food safety, and hygiene standards (HACCP)
• Maintaining clean and organised production areas and equipment
• Driving self-development and participating in relevant training programs.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

• Matric;
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in productivity or employee management within a manufacturing or bottling environment;
• Familiarity with bottling line machinery and processes (e.g., steriliser, filler, capper, blower, labeller, strapper, sleeving machines);
• Excellent communication skills (Afrikaans & English);
• Computer literacy (MS Office);
• Willingness to work night shift and overtime.
