Qualifications

  • Annual updating, recording and reporting of occupational related exposure histories.
  • Annual statistical analysis of ventilation and occupational hygiene data per workplace or section of the business area. Operational:
  • Provide information on ventilation and occupational hygiene matters related to a specific workplace or section of the business area.
  • Report and advise on ventilation and occupational hygiene findings and trends.
  • Advises on changes to plans, schedules, procedures and standards to minimize the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices.
  • Compliance measurements Compliance measurements
  • Scheduling and conducting of occupational hygiene measurements for compliance to Section 12 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
  • Compile occupational hygiene and ventilation risk assessments for compliance to Section 11 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
  • Establish a system to understand and mitigate occupational hazards in terms of the Section 12 of the Mine Health and safety Act.
  • Statutory plans are in place and up to date (Ventilation plans and mine rescue plans).
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of emergency preparedness programmes in compliance to Chapter 16 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Emergency preparedness programmes.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of fire prevention programmes in compliance to Chapter 5 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
  • Measure compliance to the Environmental Engineering and Occupational Hygiene Regulations of the Mine Health and Safety Act pertaining to monitoring and reporting at Business Area level.
  • Ensure and assure legal compliance as well as a safe and healthy work environment, to ensure minimized pure risk, litigation exposure and adverse publicity.
  • Ensuring adherence to all ventilation and company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Conducting Ventilation and Occupational hygiene projects, surveys, research and audits.
  • Advising on ventilation and occupational hygiene problems.
  • Advising on changes to plans, schedules, procedures and standards to minimise the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices.
  • Interpreting and act on ventilation and occupational hygiene related legislation.
