Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Subsurface Geophysicist to join its team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. You will interpret seismic data, build integrated subsurface models, and provide insights for exploration and development in the Oil & Gas sector.

The ideal candidate should hold a Master’s or PhD in Geophysics or Earth Sciences with 7+ years of seismic interpretation experience, and proficiency in Petrel, Kingdom, and GeoDepth.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in geophysical exploration, specifically seismic interpretation.
• Proficiency in industry-standard seismic interpretation software (Petrel, Kingdom, GeoDepth).
• Strong understanding of seismic processing workflows and data quality control.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed seismic data interpretation, including structural and stratigraphic analysis.
• Identify and map hydrocarbon prospects and reservoirs using 2D and 3D seismic data.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information.
• Utilize geophysical software for seismic processing, attribute analysis, and inversion.
• Evaluate the quality and suitability of seismic datasets for exploration and development planning.
• Contribute to prospect generation and play fairway mapping.
• Assess geological and geophysical uncertainties and risks associated with exploration targets.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers to provide seismic constraints for reservoir modeling.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and interpretations for management and project teams.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in geophysical exploration.
