About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer to contribute to their critical power distribution infrastructure in Centurion . This role is integral to the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical substations, ensuring reliable and efficient energy delivery to a wide range of consumers. You will collaborate with a team of experts on projects ranging from new substation construction to the upgrade of existing facilities, playing a key part in maintaining grid stability and supporting the increasing demands of the energy network in a vital role for the region's development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and oversee the construction and commissioning of electrical substations, including the selection of switchgear, transformers, and protection relays.
• Develop and maintain single-line diagrams, schematics, and other engineering documentation for substation assets.
• Conduct detailed analyses of power system performance, fault calculations, and protection coordination studies.
• Manage substation maintenance programs, including scheduling inspections, testing, and equipment repairs to ensure operational reliability.
• Ensure all designs and installations comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations (e.g., NRS standards).
• Provide technical support and guidance to field crews and other engineering disciplines involved in substation projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in power systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design, operations, or maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge of high-voltage equipment, protection schemes, and power system analysis software.
• Proficiency in using CAD software for electrical drawings and layout design.
