Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Subsea Engineer specializing in Field Development for a fully remote role. You will lead technical development from concept through installation, working with global teams on subsea field concepts, pipelines, and hardware.

Strong leadership and communication are essential for coordinating across disciplines. Ideal candidates hold a Mechanical Engineering background with 8+ years in subsea field development, and a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years in subsea engineering with field development focus.
• Experience designing and managing subsea production systems.
• Knowledge of subsea hardware, flow assurance, pipelines and installation methods.
• Proficiency with subsea design and analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical development of subsea field concepts and system architecture.
• Perform calculations and simulations for subsea equipment, pipelines and risers.
• Develop FEED and detailed design packages.
• Oversee subsea hardware procurement, installation, and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with standards and company specs.

• Prepare technical specifications, scopes of work, and contractor proposals.

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in the Oil & Gas sector , is seeking a highly skilled Subsea Engineer specializing in Field Development . This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to critical subsea project design and execution. The role involves the technical leadership for the development of subsea fields, from conceptual design through to installation and commissioning. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with global teams to deliver complex subsea solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of subsea field concepts, including system architecture and design.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations for subsea equipment, pipelines, and risers.
• Develop FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and detailed design packages for subsea systems.
• Oversee the selection, procurement, and installation of subsea hardware (e.g., trees, manifolds, umbilicals, PLETs).
• Ensure subsea designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and company specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (geoscience, production, project management) throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and review technical specifications, scopes of work, and contractor proposals.
• Provide technical support during the fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases.
• Conduct risk assessments and HAZID/HAZOP studies for subsea developments.
• Stay updated on subsea technologies and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in subsea engineering, with a strong focus on field development within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proven experience in designing and managing subsea production systems.
• In-depth knowledge of subsea hardware, flow assurance, pipeline engineering, and installation methodologies.
• Proficiency in relevant subsea design and analysis software.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycle and execution phases.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead and influence technical teams in a remote environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa .
• Experience with global projects is a significant advantage.
