The role guides students through academic journeys, helping with course selection, degree progression, and university resources. The position offers hybrid work with in-office and remote responsibilities, based in Stellenbosch.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's (Master's preferred) and has experience in academic advising, with strong communication and IT literacy to support students effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in academic advising or student support services in a higher education setting.
• Strong understanding of university academic policies and degree program structures.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
• Proficiency in student information systems and Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable with remote advising technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual academic advising to a caseload of students regarding course selection, degree requirements, and academic progress.
• Assist students in developing personalized academic and career plans tailored to their goals.
• Interpret and communicate university policies and procedures accurately to students.
• Refer students to appropriate university support services, such as tutoring, counseling, and career services.
• Monitor student academic performance and intervene proactively to address potential challenges.
