Job summary

Precision Recruitment International is seeking a Structural & Mechanical Inspector to conduct detailed inspections of heavy earth-moving equipment and related structural components. Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in mechanical or structural engineering.
• Certification in NDT or welding inspection preferred.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, heavy machinery mechanics, and structural integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and detailed inspections of earth-moving equipment (excavators, bulldozers, graders, dump trucks, loaders).
• Inspect structural components for cracks, wear and fatigue.
• Assess mechanical systems including hydraulics, transmissions, engines and brakes for performance.
• Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) and vibration analysis.
• Document findings and prepare reports with repair or preventive recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, OEM specs and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule corrective actions.
• Support root cause analysis for mechanical failures and defects.

The Structural & Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for conducting detailed inspections, assessments, and evaluations of heavy earth-moving equipment and associated structural components. This role ensures that machinery and infrastructure meet safety, compliance, and operational standards. The inspector will play a critical role in identifying mechanical and structural defects, recommending corrective actions, and supporting preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and scheduled inspections of earth-moving equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, graders, dump trucks, and loaders.
• Inspect structural components such as frames, booms, buckets, and chassis for cracks, wear, and fatigue.
• Assess mechanical systems including hydraulics, transmissions, engines, and braking systems for performance and compliance.
• Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT), vibration analysis, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for repair, replacement, or preventive measures.
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards, OEM specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule corrective actions and monitor implementation.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) for mechanical failures and structural defects.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and training to operators and maintenance staff on equipment care and safety.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in mechanical/structural inspection within mining, construction, or heavy equipment industries.
• Certification in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Welding Inspection, or related mechanical inspection standards preferred.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, heavy machinery mechanics, and structural integrity assessment.
• Familiarity with ISO standards, OHS regulations, and equipment compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in technical reporting and use of diagnostic tools/software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
