Job summary

Fusion Personnel in Johannesburg is seeking a qualified Earthmoving Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic with at least 45 years of related experience in earthmoving or heavy equipment. The role focuses on disassembly, refurbishment, assembly, and fault diagnosis of hydraulic and mechanical systems in our workshop environment.

You will test components, maintain records, rotate between workshop divisions, and uphold safety and housekeeping standards while complying with OH&S regulations.

Qualifications

• Qualified Earthmoving Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic.
• Minimum 45 years' related experience within earthmoving or heavy equipment.
• Strong hydraulic experience is essential.
• Experience with refurbishment and repair of heavy equipment components.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
• Willing to work overtime when required.
• Computer literacy (MS Office) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, refurbish and assemble earthmoving components.
• Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic failures.
• Conduct fault finding and compile technical reports.
• Test components following assembly to ensure functionality and quality standards.
• Assemble components using hand tools and workshop machinery.
• Follow workshop procedures, quality standards and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and job records.
• Assist with component assessments and quotations.
• Rotate between workshop divisions when operationally required.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the workshop.
• Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
