Placements24 is seeking a highly qualified Structural Engineer to contribute to major industrial projects in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role covers design, analysis, and oversight of structural elements for heavy industrial facilities such as power plants and petrochemical plants.

The ideal candidate holds a BEng or MEng in Structural Engineering, with PrEng registration preferred, and a minimum of 7 years' experience in steel and concrete design.

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in Structural Engineering or closely related field.
• PrEng registration with ECSA is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, focus on heavy industrial construction.
• Proven experience in designing steel and concrete structures.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS).
• Strong knowledge of material properties and seismic design principles and codes.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural components for heavy industrial facilities.
• Develop detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes and regulations (SANS, Eurocodes).
• Perform site visits to monitor construction progress and verify conformance with design.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and civil disciplines for integrated designs.
• Conduct structural integrity assessments and recommend repairs or modifications.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to technical queries on-site.
