Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for industrial buildings, platforms, and equipment supports.
• Perform structural calculations for loads, stresses, and displacements using relevant software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000).
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculation reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and international codes.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to ensure integrated and constructible designs.
• Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors.
• Conduct site visits for inspections and to resolve design-related issues during construction (if required).
• Assess the structural integrity of existing facilities and recommend modifications.
• Stay current with advancements in structural engineering software and design techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural design, with a focus on industrial facilities.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or ETABS.
• Strong knowledge of steel and concrete design codes and standards.
• Experience with 3D modeling and BIM software (e.g., Revit Structure) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities for effective remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) or ECSA registration is highly desirable.
