Placements24 in Polokwane is seeking an experienced Transportation Planner to optimize the logistics network from our Limpopo base. You will plan routes, manage carrier relationships, and analyze transportation data to drive cost-efficient, timely movements of goods across regions.

The role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of TMS and routing software, and the ability to negotiate with carriers while meeting regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Transportation Planner or in a similar logistics role.
• Strong understanding of TMS and routing software.
• Excellent knowledge of freight regulations and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Effective negotiation and communication skills for managing carrier relationships.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule daily, weekly, and monthly transportation routes for optimal efficiency.
• Select and manage relationships with external carriers, negotiating rates and ensuring service level agreements are met.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any disruptions or delays.
• Analyze transportation costs and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to plan, execute, and track shipments.
