Job summary

Mayfly Agri in Gauteng seeks a seasoned procurement professional to oversee local and global procurement activities within a chemical/agrochemical manufacturing context. You will ensure adherence to authorization limits and drive cost-saving and working capital projects.

The role emphasizes optimizing stock levels, managing freight for imports/exports, maintaining MRP data, and collaborating with Sales and Regulatory teams to ensure SHERQ compliance and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' proven procurement experience in chemical/agrochemical manufacturing.
• Solid knowledge of chemical/agri supply chain markets and dynamics.
• Experience with global sourcing, forex management, import logistics and cost analysis.
• MRP systems experience (Netstock, Dynamics, Power BI) is required.
• Strong IT skills and excellent communication, analytical and negotiating abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all local and global procurement activities, including logistics.
• Adhere to authorization policies for procurement and Limits of Authority.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies and cost-saving initiatives.
• Identify working capital improvements such as inventory cover and favorable payment terms.
• Source multiple suppliers and regions to ensure continuity and sustainability.
• Negotiate prices and payment terms; establish supplier agreements where appropriate.
• Maintain approved supplier lists and up-to-date MRP data (Neststock/Power BI).
• Collaborate with Sales and Regulatory teams on cost fluctuations and compliance.
• Manage freight forwarders and costs for imports/exports; control excess stock.
• Prepare reports for management and ensure SHERQ and regulatory compliance.

Job description

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a National Senior Certificate (Matric) as well as a Diploma / Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or any Agricultural field
• Minimum 5 years' proven experience in procurement in a similar chemical or agrochemical manufacturing environment is essential
• Solid working knowledge and understanding of relevant chemical or Agri industry supply chain markets and supply chain dynamics for commodities, specialities and pesticide actives
• Proven experience with global sourcing, forex management processes, managing import logistics and cost determination and analysis
• Must have experience in MRP systems such as Netstock/Dynamics/Power BI
• Solid working knowledge of the working capital aspects of procurement such as stock cover, safety stock, payments terms and all such aspects is essential
• Dynamics D365 experience will be an advantage
• Must be self-motivated and energetic
• Proficient IT skills are essential (Microsoft Office, ERP and Stock Management Systems)
• Must have excellent communication, analytical and negotiating skills

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Overseeing and coordinating all local and global procurement activities, including logistics aspects.
• Adhering to authorization policies for all procurement activities and Limits of Authority.
• Actively participating in the development and implementation of procurement strategies.
• Continuously and proactively identifying improvement opportunities, including cost savings and working capital improvements such as inventory cover and payment terms, and planning and implementing these initiatives.
• Continuously and proactively pursuing multiple supply options, including alternate suppliers and source regions, to ensure continuity and sustainability within the supply chain.
• Negotiating prices and payment terms and establishing supply agreements where appropriate.
• Maintaining the approved supplier list in line with company policy.
• Proactively maintaining MRP systems data, including Neststock and Power BI.
• Maintaining accurate and up to date in-store cost price listings at all times for all raw and packaging materials.
• Proactively liaising with Sales to manage cost fluctuations and assisting with impact assessments prior to order confirmation.
• Managing freight forwarders and related costs for imports and exports.
• Proactively assisting with the management of excess stock levels.
• Providing material source data in support of the registration process to the R&D and Regulatory departments.
• Attending and participating in relevant company meetings.
• Preparing reports as routinely required or requested by management.
• Proactively assisting the Regulatory department in ensuring compliance with all procurement-related regulations within the highly regulated agricultural industry.
• Complying with all SHERQ, job-specific and other rules and regulations as detailed in the policies and procedures of the Integrated Management Systems.
• Demonstrating teamwork, good verbal and written communication skills, a high degree of self-discipline and confidentiality, and initiative.
