Job summary

Mayfly Agri (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Stock/Inventory Controller in Johannesburg to manage inventory balances and month‑end closings. You will oversee valuations, generate inventory reports, and maintain depot notebooks and records while coordinating training and audits.

The role requires 3+ years in stock control, strong Syspro and MS Office skills, and the ability to work across departments. A valid driver’s license and transport are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a National Senior Certificate.
• A tertiary qualification of a certificate or diploma in Stock Management/Inventory Control would be advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience as a Stock/Inventory Controller.
• Previous experience in the agrochemical industry would be advantageous.
• Ability to interface at multiple organisational levels.
• SHEQ knowledge/ISO standards would be advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; deadline-driven.
• Pass on knowledge and requirements to others.
• Good communication (verbal and written), planning, and presentation skills.
• Computer literacy in MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Sound working knowledge of Syspro.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining inventory balances and related balance sheet accounts.
• Managing monthly inventory close processes, reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Overseeing inventory provisions and valuation.
• Reporting inventory statistics to management (goods in transit, open entries, open orders).
• Performing stock reconciliations.
• Maintaining records and tracking delivery notebooks issued to depots.
• Assisting with ordering and training matrix/coordinating depot training.
• Managing depot opening/closure processes and supplier claims.
• Assisting with month-end procedures and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintaining standard operating procedures for depots.
• Assisting Accounts Payable with PO and GRN matching.
• Assisting with audits and compliance with SHEQ rules.

Job description

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a National Senior Certificate
• A tertiary qualification of a certificate or diploma in Stock Management/Inventory Control would be advantageous
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience as a Stock/Inventory Controller
• Previous experience in the agrochemical industry would be advantageous
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to interface successfully at multiple organisational levels
• Working knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems (i.e. ISO, etc) standards and requirements would be advantageous
• Must be able to work independently as well as within a team, use own initiative and be deadline driven
• Well experienced in Company standards and programs requirements in order to pass on knowledge and requirements to others
• Must possess good communication (verbal and written), planning, organisational, presentation, report writing and people skills
• Must be computer literate in MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Must possess sound working knowledge of Syspro
• Must possess the ability to converse in both English and Afrikaans (verbally and written) due to the nature of the Companys client base
• Must be in possession of a valid drivers license, have own reliable transport and be medically fit to drive

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Maintaining full accountability for inventory balances and related balance sheet accounts.
• Managing monthly inventory close processes, reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Overseeing inventory provisions and valuation.
• Reporting inventory statistics to management, including goods in transit, open entries, open sales orders and open purchase orders.
• Performing stock reconciliations.
• Assigning and maintaining accurate records and tracking delivery notebooks issued to depots.
• Assisting with ordering new delivery notebooks for depots.
• Evaluating depot training needs.
• Compiling the training matrix.
• Coordinating training according to the training matrix.
• Coordinating and facilitating training for new depot personnel.
• Assisting with coordinating Depot Days.
• Assisting with the preparation of internal and external audits, as well as addressing queries raised by auditors.
• Assisting accountants with month-end procedures, including balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintaining standard operating procedures for depots.
• Assisting Accounts Payable with purchase order (PO) and goods received note (GRN) matching.
• Managing the depot opening and closure processes.
• Assisting with processing supplier claims.
• Assisting with setting up and recommending new inventory controls.
• Assisting with managing obsolete and expired stock within depots.
• Assisting with managing expired and damaged stock at distribution centres.
• Complying with relevant SHEQ rules and regulations in accordance with company policy.
