Job summary

MET Trust in Johannesburg, South Africa, seeks a Senior Programmes Manager to translate strategy into measurable, sustainable community development initiatives. You will lead partner relationships, embed an outcomes-based MEL culture, and drive SROI outcomes while enabling the CEO to focus on governance and strategy.

Qualifications

• A Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
• Post-graduate qualifications in the above-mentioned fields is preferred.
• A minimum of 8-10 years of senior-level experience in the development, CSI, or non-profit sector.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing outcomes-based MEL systems with SROI or similar impact measurement.
• Extensive stakeholder and partnership management experience, including capacity building.
• Experience in managing multi-million Rand budgets and financial governance.
• Experience in presenting to a Board of Trustees or governance bodies.
• Strategic thinking, leadership, autonomy, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive annual programme plan aligned with strategic pillars.
• Oversee the full programme lifecycle from partner selection through closure.
• Lead MEL framework design and ensure SROI-focused reporting.
• Prepare high-quality reports for the CEO and Board with insights and recommendations.
• Manage the programmes budget and ensure governance compliance.
• Build partner capacity and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
• Identify innovative projects addressing root causes of poverty and inequality.
