Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Insurance Operations Manager in Pietermaritzburg to oversee daily operations, including policy administration, claims processing, and customer service. The role combines leadership with hands-on improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance.

You will lead a team, drive efficiency, manage budgets, and collaborate with IT, Finance, and Underwriting to ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in insurance operations management.
• Proven track record of managing operational teams and driving efficiency.
• Strong understanding of insurance processes including policy administration and claims management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency in operational management software and MS Office.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Based in or willing to commute to Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage day-to-day insurance operations, including policy issuance, endorsements, claims handling, and customer service.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operational staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Monitor operational performance against KPIs, identifying areas for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and company policies.
• Manage budgets and resource allocation effectively.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives through process analysis and re-engineering.
• Collaborate with IT, Finance, Underwriting to ensure seamless operations.
• Handle escalated customer issues and ensure timely resolution.
