Qualifications

• Must hold a current IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with general administrative or principal or superintendent endorsement and bilingual education or English as a new language endorsement
• Must complete a teacher evaluator pre-qualification program as provided or approved by ISBE
• Must have earned a master's degree in bilingual education, educational leadership, linguistics or related field from a regionally accredited institution
• Must have at least ten years of full-time relevant, professional bilingual education experience including instructional leadership
• Has excellent integrity and strong character and initiative
• Strong knowledge of ML instruction and language development
• Strong knowledge of bilingual education regulations and compliance requirements

Responsibilities

• Advocate for multilingual learners
• Identify opportunities to improve ML programs across the district
• Set and drive a bold vision for multilingual learner achievement
• Strengthen ML pathways for course access, scheduling, and graduation supports
• Improve instruction and student achievement across grade levels
• Align ML instructional supports with district curriculum and assessment
• Ensure reporting and accountability requirements for EL programs are met
• Develop professional learning for multilingual education staff
• Recruit, screen, and hire bilingual education staff
• Coordinate with principals and coordinators on scheduling and ML services
• Disseminate compliance information to stakeholders
• Evaluate ML teachers to improve instruction
• Collaborate with all school staff
• Implement best practices for multilingual learners
• Lead professional development for the department
• Provide curriculum development leadership and feedback
• Maintain PowerSchool and Ellevation data
• Collaborate with ECHO and represent the district at meetings
• Submit required documents to support department goals
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent
