Job summary

Absa Group is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer to lead enterprise cyber security strategy, risk management and resilience across technology and business domains. The role requires executive collaboration with the Board, regulators and business leaders to embed security into innovation and digital growth.

You will oversee threat intelligence, IAM, security operations and architecture, ensure regulatory compliance, and build a high‑performing team within a diverse, inclusive culture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years in cyber security, information security or technology risk.
• 8–10 years in leadership of large cyber security functions.
• Experience in highly regulated financial services or similar industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise cyber security strategy and operating model.
• Oversee enterprise cyber risk management and reporting to executives and board.
• Direct Security Operations Centre, threat monitoring and incident response.
• Drive cyber resilience, recovery planning and testing.
• Shape security architecture and engineering across cloud, apps, data and infrastructure.
• Govern identity and access management governance and controls.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and oversight with regulators and audits.
• Foster a culture of security awareness and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Represent Absa in industry forums and regulatory engagements.
