Job summary

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of SA retail legislation, labour practices, and food safety.
• Proficiency in MS Office and POS/stock management systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage the P&L, including monitoring cash flows, expenses, margins, and cost control.
• Oversee stock control, inventory ordering, merchandising, and pricing strategies.
• Ensure strict compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and health and safety legislation.
• Lead, mentor, and train store personnel while fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture.
• Oversee administrative functions, cash management, and reporting to senior management.

We are seeking a hands-on and commercially minded Store Manager to oversee daily retail operations, manage store profitability, and lead a dedicated team to achieve sustainable growth and high standards of customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily store operations to achieve sales targets and business growth.
• Manage the P&L, including monitoring cash flows, expenses, margins, and cost control.
• Oversee stock control, inventory ordering, merchandising, and pricing strategies.
• Ensure strict compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and health and safety legislation.
• Lead, mentor, and train store personnel while fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture.
• Oversee administrative functions, cash management, and reporting to senior management.

Requirements

• Matric (National Senior Certificate); a tertiary qualification in retail management is advantageous.
• At least 5 years of store management or supervisory experience, preferably within an FMCG or retail food environment.
• Strong commercial acumen with proven experience managing P&L, stock, and sales targets.
• Solid understanding of South African retail legislation, labour practices, and food safety standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant point-of-sale or stock management systems.
