Job summary

Staff Solutions is seeking a General Manager to oversee all aspects of the business unit, driving day-to-day operations, performance, and customer service excellence. You will optimize stock levels, manage marketing and supplier relations, and lead a team to achieve budgeted and strategic goals.

Responsibilities include driving revenue, managing stock and loss control, and ensuring strong stakeholder relationships with suppliers, community partners, and staff.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in retail management, ideally within FMCG or wholesale sectors.
• Strong financial management skills with budgeting and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Pastel, Excel, SAP, and related software.
• Experience in inventory management, stock buying, supplier relations, and promotional planning.

Responsibilities

• Drive the achievement of store performance targets, Top Line Budget, Gross Profit, and Bottom Line Profit.
• Maximize income through rebates, promotions, ends, and ad-hoc sales.
• Ensure success in key KPIs such as basket size, footcount, departmental participation, and cash/credit ratio to sales.
• Manage stockholding and stock cards; maintain inventory within budgeted limits (4.5 weeks).
• Foster supplier relationships, negotiate promotions and pricing based on market research.
• Oversee purchasing decisions aligned with rate of sale and minimize overstocking.
• Conduct daily floor walks, set performance targets, and ensure store standards are met.
• Enforce security protocols and ensure compliance with cash handling and stock management.
