Job summary

Sibanye Stillwater is seeking a Miner to safely open ore reserves via blasting and extract ore from underground workings on the stoping horizon. The role focuses on meeting production targets through controlled blasting while upholding safety and SHERQ standards.

You will lead daily site activities, coach team members, ensure accurate records, and collaborate with safety representatives to minimize incidents and maximize efficiency. Prior mining experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Medically fit to work in the specific business area.

• At least 2-3 years’ mining experience.
• Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Clear security screening record.

Responsibilities

• Achieve production targets and efficiencies.
• Conduct daily re-entry examinations.
• Mark support areas as required and maintain markings.
• Identify reef bands and mark faces per geological reports.
• Charge faces and ensure safe blasting procedures.
• Plan and coordinate mining activities to meet targets.
• Complete documentation and administration accurately.
• Plan leave cycles and manage workforce schedules.
• Provide coaching and on-the-job training to staff.
• Manage performance and development of reporting staff.
• Ensure fair work allocation and inspire high performance.
• Adhere to SHERQ standards and PPE requirements.
• Participate in SHERQ meetings and campaigns.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.

• Identifying of reef band and mark the face as per the geological reports.

• Planning and coordination of mining activities in line with targets and objectives. Administration

• Conduct planning for leave cycles.

• Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff.

• SHERQ
• Ensure that team members adhere to PPE requirements.
• Participate in required SHERQ meetings, interventions and campaigns.
• Conducts accidents and incidents investigations and implement necessary measures to avoid re-occurrence.
• Ensuring compliance to mine standards and procedures.
• Reporting of all incidents and/or near miss incidents to the relevant parties.
• Liaising with safety representatives and team members.
• Conduct Safe Behavioural Observations (SBOs) and Planned Task Observations (PTOs).
• Maintain and comply with SHERQ standards within the work environment.
• Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks.
• Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
