Job summary

Bridge Personnel Concepts is seeking a qualified manager for drilling and blasting operations in Malalane, Mpumalanga. The role requires extensive experience in handling day-to-day operations, compliance inspections, and ensuring workplace safety.

Ideal candidates will have a Diploma/Degree in Blasting/Mining or Civil Engineering, along with relevant blasting certifications and at least 5-7 years of experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and blasting software is essential.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years’ experience in drilling and blasting within the mining industry.
• 2 years’ experience in managing drill and blasting teams of 40+ employees.
• Basic knowledge of Drill Rigs, specifically Sandvik Di550 and Di650.
• Experience with electronic and pyrotechnic initiation systems.

Job description

Duties and responsibilities (not limited to):

• Manage and handling day-to-day operations of the drilling and blasting on site
• Daily compliance inspections on drill and blast blocks.
• Implementing and managing of drill and blast blocks as per mine planning.
• Managing of workplace safety, explosives handling, storage, and ensure transport protocols are adhered to.
• Monitor and ensure quality control in drilling and blasting, assessing blast outcomes, fragmentation and environmental impact.
• Preparing regular weekly and monthly reports.
• Lead, mentor and train a team of drilling and blasting personal fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety
• Assist the PM Department with recruitment, onboarding, payroll and Disciplinary actions
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and all records are in order.
• Be willing to travel to other sites and operations.
• Establishing sound relationships with all stakeholders.

Minimum Qualification / Experience:

• Diploma/Degree in Blasting/Mining or Civil Engineering
• DMRE Opencast Blasting Ticket.
• MQA Surface Rock Breaking Certificate. 01/07/2009 to 31/05/2017
• Minimum of 5-7 years’ drilling and blasting within the mining industry.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing drill and blasting teams, 40+ employees on shift system.
• Basic knowledge of Drill Rigs, specifically Sandvik Di550 and Di650
• Experience with the use of electronic and pyrotechnic initiation systems.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
